VERY NICE.
Very good session but there were some technical issues
ReplyDeleteAfter very long time I got into the meeting and I was not able to hear you properly I faced many technical issues just now there is no disturbance in the line
ReplyDeleteThis is a very pertinent topic and I am looking forward to learning some concrete measures and strategies that can be employed in my school.
ReplyDeleteMy questions are with regard to online education:
1. How can we maintain interest and encourage participation of students?
2. What strategies can be employed for valid assessment of students ( especially in large
class groups)
3. What are the various effective ways of organizing a timetable for different sections. Primary, Middle school, Secondary and Senior Secondary?
4. How can we ensure mental well being of our students studying online?

The session is really very useful in the present context. There is one request to the CBSE to take initiative to provide a authenticated online platform and tools for online classes and assessment tools.

2nd question.
ReplyDeleteAs I have done certificate course on Online Teaching in 2015 from University of New South Wales, Australia, I know the most difficult task in purely Online Teaching ( as this is the only option available, can't use Blended model also), is a fair formative as well as summative assessment. What do you propose to overcome this hindrance?

My worry is about teachers health as I m also a teacher and the current scenario has brought me to work on an average of 18 hrs a day from home on screen . Is there any guildlines for administration or boards.
ReplyDeleteYes. There is MHRD guidelines Pragyata. You have to balance online and offline activities. I am also a Principal, a teacher, a student( doing two online courses where I have to write exam every week), a moderator and TV anchor for Tennews Education division and work for Abhivira Foundation and Abha Mission for social health and education . Thank God that I am also a wife and a mother, so I have to give at least 4 to 6 hours in household in this lockdown . Please start doing some household chores, go for a walk for at least half an hour, read good books, call a family member or friend and talk on phone, play something, join some NGO. Otherwise sooner or later you will develop spondylitis, retinal dysfunction, irritation, depression and other mental ailments.
DeletePlease take care of yourself, only then you can take care of your students and your family.

ReplyDeleteSince, the focus of CBSE and most schools today is to keep students connected and keep learning going on, we see that many school leaders are taking amazing initiatives to open the doors for experiential learning in their online sessions but how to ensure that parents come on board with schools and understand the importance of alternate teaching strategies that schools are adapting? Some parents and students are not very open to the new change and resist participating in activities that focus on 21st century skill development.

This is time to transit and uphold the future of education. The online teaching is an effective tool to reach the every corner of the world. The perfect strategy is basic underline to get success. The main focus should be the rural areas where connectivity is challenging. Please suggest ideas or strategies on this issue.

Thank you CBSE for providing such a international platform.
My question is whether a canadian way of digital learning is suitable for our context ( Indian context except the metros and well developed cities).
Dear all,
ReplyDeleteHi, I am Principal of Al Wurood International School Jeddah. We started online mode of teaching within 4 days of lock down . So we are hold classes on virtual mode since 15th March, 2020 from KG to grade 12. We had a robust training programme for teachers and since we were having smart classes for many years our faculty did not find any difficulty adapting to virtual mode.
It has been a enriching experience of teaching and learning for the entire team
We conduct all the school activities which include Gavel club, students council elections, special assemblies, Physical Education, various competitions and all the co curricular activities. We also conducted formative, periodic and term end assessments. It was possible because of the active involvement of teachers, support from parents and students.
I have couple of questions.
1. What would be appropriate number hours virtual classes which is comfortable for different age groups and their visual health.
2. What should be the best method of assessment tool for evaluation?

Wonderful, innovative, motivating, encouraging as well as practical session given by the experts. It gave answers for most of the questions. Excellent content based presentation. Schools in Gujarat facing severe opposition from the parents on blended learning. Now their agitation has taken up the state government. The government announced today not to pay fees to schools till the normal shooing resumes. In this context how will schools get motivated to be more innovative and experiential etc. The economic viability is in question.

Thanks a lot CBSE, Maria and the Canadian Team for all the very informative sessions which really helped us a lot . The entire week was a real learning experience.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful session..... But must say whole we all want children to drive their own learning, I feel they are still not ready for it.... They need us to keep guiding and provoking then to learn more... Research more and then maybe in timet....slowly they will be ready to take their own flight....
ReplyDeleteThe webinar was very informative indeed. If children are made incharge of their own learning there would be environment of happiness at school but what is the road map for this to happen? Teachers are not confident of leaving things to students to research? It is a time consuming process, whereas time lines have been given in curriculum. Parents will not agree to this because the atmosphere is not favorable, they are heavily dependent on teachers at school and all the students can not be considered mature enough to take charge of their own learning. The ultimate blame will come to school authorities and teachers only. How to go about this wishful thinking is the major question? Please bridge these gaps!
